EGONU GLADYS hails from Oshimili South Local Government Area. She was unemployed for three years after graduation from the university till she got enrolled in the Delta State Government’s Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Programme (STEP) in the 2018/2019 Cycle, as a Brown STEPreneur. She is a seasoned fashion designer, a trainer and the CEO of G6 Design, Asaba.
STEP training, the establishment package together with her determination to excel distinguished from her peers. The quality of her work is evident in her neat seams and finishing. Two years after, she shares her success story.
“I have trained five persons. I currently need the services of a good designer to complement my efforts in order to meet the ever-increasing demands from my clients. My vision is to become a world-class fashion designer. The training improved my ability to finish well. My work speaks for me. I have procured more equipment such as a stoning machine and two manual machines.
“The Delta State job creation programme has helped to reduce unemployment, reduced crime, and has helped many youths to realize their true potentials. The exposure it gave me shot me up to where I am today. It brought out the creativity in me, and through it, I have been able to achieve financial freedom.
“So many beneficiaries are now independent; we can take care of ourselves, help our families and chart the way forward for a better future. In a nutshell, job creation programme has shaped the mind-set of Delta youths.”
