Armed Forces Remembrance Day: Two Service Officers Slump During Parade In Delta


The grand final of the 2022 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration was almost marred in Asaba the Delta State capital when two Service Officers Slumped during the parade.

The Nigerian Military, Navy , Air force and the Nigerian Legion participated in the parade form up during the celebration that attracted large crowd at the Cenotaph.

It was gathered that the service officers who arrived the venue of the event as early as 7 am formed a standing parade for about five hours under the scotching sun.

The moment His Excellency , the Governor of Delta State , Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa , who was represented by his Deputy , Dcn. Kingsley Burutu Otuaro arrive the venue of the event, he moved to perform the laying of wreaths ceremony alongside other dignitaries.

The laying of wreaths ceremony was on going when an officer of the Nigerian Army and another Air force officer slumped simultaneously.

It took the efforts of the Nigerian Military medical corps to quickly come to the aide of the distressed officers as a military ambulance was brought in to take slumped officer away for medical attention.

However, the incident did not disrupt the event as the dignitaries took turns to perform the wreath laying ceremony at the tomb of the unknown soldier and fallen heroes.

The event also witnessed ceremonial 21 gun salute and the release of commemorative pigeons.
