Alwan Hassan, acting managing director/chief executive officer of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA), has been unreachable since the attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train.
Hassan’s whereabouts unknown since he was last seen boarding the Kaduna-bound train that was attacked on Monday.
A source said Alwan Hassan boarded the evening train going to Kaduna with one of his nieces.
The gunmen attacked, blown up the rail track on its way to Kaduna from Abuja, after which they launched an attack on the passengers.
Several persons including one of the train drivers, food vendors, and cleaners were reportedly killed in the attack.
There are reports indicating that Alwan Hassan may have been one of the victims whisked away by the terrorists with cars they brought to the crime scene.
His line has been switched off since the time of the attack on Monday evening with no one able to reach him according to a source
He said: “We cannot tell if he has been kidnapped or not but we are worried because we have been unable to reach him since yesterday.
“His phone lines have been switched off and no one has contacted the bank or any of his family members,” the source close to his family stated.
Many of the passengers were either killed, injured or abducted by the terrorists.
Speaking to newsmen on Tuesday, an official of BOA’s corporate communications department said Hassan has not been reachable since the incident happened.
“We are not so sure if he has been kidnapped. Yes, he was on that train. But we have not heard anything from him,” the official said.
